2 DE NOVIEMBRE. ENTRADA LIBRE
Jazz Madrid 2017. Un recorrido por la historia de una música esencialmente vitalista, y una invitación al baile más desinhibido y de gozo cómplice. Eso es, en esencia, un espectáculo de calle de la Nola Brass Band, cuya intención está puesta en ejercer de animadora en formato de marching band en algunos de los momentos más significativos que viva este festival.
El grupo, que dirige con eficacia su creador, el baterista leonés Rubén Cuadrado “Chopin”. dispone de una corte muy generosa de solistas con buen brillo: dos trompetas: dos saxos -uno barítono y otro tenor-; un trombón; una tuba; guitarra eléctrica que dobla en voces, y, finalmente, la batería. Las dos últimas aportaciones consiguen que la energía torrencial del funk predomine en la arquitectura sonora de la banda, suministrándole dosis añadidas de potencia y vitalidad.
Música que, partiendo de ritmos oriundos del Mardi Gras, se abre al atractivo contagio del soul y el rhtym & blues. Los tambores enmarañados con la cosmopolita guitarra eléctrica, y la tuba y los saxos confrontando con los vientos jazzísticos de las trompetas. Y, en el repertorio, un puñado de éxitos que remiten a aquellos que todavía suenan en los clubes y bares del reconstruido Vieux Carré de Nueva Orleans.
